Michael is convinced that the heartbeat of pastoral ministry is the proclamation of Good News and teaching the Word. Michael describes his life aim as being a shaper of disciples and a trainer of leaders, along the lines of 2 Timothy 2:2. He wants to help intercultural leadership teams to exercise servant leadership, so the gospel can be lived out in all spheres of life.

After a degree in philosophy at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Michael served as a high school teacher and staff worker at Fellowship of Evangelical Students, before reading theology at China Graduate School of Theology. He then served as Senior Minister at Northern District Chinese Christian Church Sydney, Australia, for 25 years. Before Michael became a pastor, he have been member of Hong Kong(Western)Swatow Baptist Church.

During his time at Sydney, Michael also taught various courses at Morling College, NSW and Chinese Theological College Australia. Michael also served on the OMF International Australian Council and the China Graduate School of Theology Australian Board. Besides, he chaired the Sydney Chinese Christian Churches Association for a number of years.
