Having grown up in church, Grace Au started her graduate degree at China Graduate School of Theology in 2010 after her undergraduate degree in Philosophy. Her determination to become a Bible scholar prompted her to pursue a ThM at CGST. In 2017, she enrolled in the jointly awarded PhD programme established by the University of Edinburgh and CGST. During her time in Edinburgh, she served in a local Chinese church, leading Bible study groups for mainland students and teaching Sunday Schools. From 2021, she joins CGST and takes up the position of Assistant Professor in Biblical Studies. She is also a volunteer Minister in Christian Canaan Church.
Her doctoral research is about Paul’s ways of characterising God in Romans, she argues that Paul justifies his Gentile mission with various divine designations. She believes the Bible is the revelation of God, and reading the Bible in its original languages enables us to contemplate deeply on the Truth. As Paul has set a perfect example of reviewing his theology in ministerial settings, Grace also hopes to help students integrate theology with ministry in contemporary context.
She is serving together with her husband in Christian Canaan Church and they have a daughter, Alethea.
