| Welcome to our Web. Let me say a few words about our conviction and vision behind the theological education at CGST.
To a lot of brothers and sisters, theology often seems rather remote from their life. What exactly is theology? Theology, put simply, is the task of proclaiming the gospel, expounding it in such way that it is not only intelligible to who have ears to hear, but also that it becomes a life transforming power in different levels of human existence, from the personal to the socio-cultural, from the existential to the historical destiny of humanity. Theology exists as the life-activity of the Church. It bears the responsibility to teach, to defend the faith entrusted to the saints, to guide the puzzled, and to test whether the proclamation of the church is faithful to God’s revelation.
The present age is desperately in need of the gospel. In no other period of human history has the human person enjoyed so much material abundance, yet at the same time so deprived of spiritual values, so empty in life, and so devastated by moral confusion. This age is radically narcissistic, but paradoxically, it has a deep yearning meaningful relation. Man needs the light of life and guidance from the Word of God. The church has to take the leadership to lead people out darkness into the light. CGST aims precisely to train such leaders, who are willing to be humble servants and to lead by life example.
As servant-leaders of the age, they need a rigorous training in which the shaping of character, the pursuit of excellence, the cultivation of a passion for truth from God’s Word and for prophetic insights, is the essential curriculum.
Indeed, as our name implies, “China” is where our vision and burden is. From the founding of the School, we have been praying unceasingly, waiting earnestly, for the day when CGST can train leaders for the Church in China. The day has already come. We need your continual prayer and partnership in serving China.
